Our Story

Chill Mode Records (CMR) was launched in 2004 in Space City, TX (Houston, TX for the uninitiated). Founded by Darren Roberts and Leah Moore of the band Last Soul Descendents (LSD), the label was originally started as a means to release their music projects and various collaborations. Over the years, CMR has grown to encompass projects from LSD and other artists across multiple genres of electronica including trip-hop, dub, DnB, down-tempo, acid-jazz, house and jungle music. Our passion is rooted in the desire to make good music, and we look forward to delivering good vibes for another 20 years.

 

Style And Future Projects

From the underground classic, “Space City Grooves'' to the laid back and deep, “2020”, we’ve released award-winning music for over 20 years. We’ve collaborated with artists ranging from acclaimed author and poet Inertia Justice, to Los Angeles-based composer and DJ, Saru. And though we’ve traversed styles and genres, our true love is laid back electronica, and its many subgenres and vibes. We are always on the lookout for the next dope collaboration, so whether you’re into chill reggae sounds or deep house with hypnotic vocals, feel free to reach out and discuss.
